David Finley served his country honorably as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Navy from December 1966 to April 1970. Mr. Finley enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 and completed boot camp at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes. While in boot camp, Mr. Finley volunteered for riverine warfare training at the Naval Inshore Operations Training Center in California (NIOTC). After completing his training at NIOTC, Mr. Finley was assigned to the River Division 512 (RIVDIV 512) “River Rats” in Vietnam where he served as a Gunners Mate Guns (GMG) aboard PBR’s (Patrol Boat, River) and smaller craft throughout Vietnam. During his two tours in the Brown Water Navy, Mr. Finley was wounded
multiple times by enemy fire, received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
In 1971, Mr. Finley went to work for Florida Power Corporation (FPC) as an Electrician Apprentice. Over the course of his 26+ years working at various FPC power generation facilities, Mr. Finley became a Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, and the Electrical Supervisor of FPC’s System Maintenance Crew (SMC). Mr. Finley left FPC in 1997 and founded F&H Electrical Contractors later that year. Mr. Finley, with his business partner and dear friend, Dan Williams, grew F&H from a small shop with 2
electricians working out of his backyard to a multi-million dollar a year company with an average of more than 350 employees. In 2017, Mr. Finley retired from F&H, but his retirement was short lived and within a year, his passion for the electrical trade led Mr. Finley to found D.A.V. Electric, LLC.
